What can you learn from your building information modeling experiences?

From a General Contracting perspective: 1. Using the BIM model to identify RFI issues early; the goal is to have zero RFIs come from the field. 2. Utilizing the model to visualize to clients what their space will look like in a finished state helps build the relationship. 3. Creating and delivering a model to facilities operations of a building helps them to identify where critical areas of maintenance will be in the future. 4. Combining all drawings into a 3D space helps identify lack of details and identifies design issues early on, even before permit set drawings are available. 5. Communication between all team members, design team, and field is improved using 3D visualization.

The BIM process helped us to identify the grey area in design intent 6. BIM process helped the procurement team to procure right sub contractor.

From my point of view, the hardest thing is BIM is that many people are required to work on the same software at the same time which causing so much load to handle, it requires fast, new system and strong communication skills in order to be all on same page, Lastly, the beginning in BIM is the hard period, later on once everyone know what to do and how to do, it save much time and efforts!

As my point of View, BIM challenges include problems with different software compatibility, the need for industry standards, issues with data security, high initial costs, and the learning curve associated with adopting new technologies in construction and AEC industries.

While IFC has made considerable progress, it still suffers from data loss due to incorrect mapping or limitations of the format itself. The absence of an #OpenBIM approach and cooperation between software vendors is hampering the true potential of BIM, which is to facilitate collaboration.

The best practices which I would suggest is to use the Digital Tools to create and manage data which can help us to improve design, coordination, collaboration, cost, quality, and sustainability of and design and construction projects.

Through my career I defiantly see that BIM is expanding and gaining new aspects and markets. the maturity level of BIM is now better than 5 years before and much better than 10 years. We see now integrations between BIM and GIS, AI and IOT. We see the AR, VR and VR rooms as reality not just a dream of doing so.

the future is a data-driven world, and BIM also adapting the same. BIM is going to help the "Digital Twin" to plan the development and improvement of social life.

With the Revolution of technology and People becoming less code illiterate and understanding data and how it's shaping our world today and tomorrow, I can see that there are opportunities in integrating BIM Outputs to create new industries, new workflows, new forms of architecture and urbanism, new norms of spatial and urban experiences... bridging the gap between what is virtual and what's real and making imaginary things become true...

one of the best techniques I use is to write done and log every problem we faced and how we solve it in order to register lessons learned and revisit this solutions to think about it again to get better outcomes of the solution and consider in the next projects.
