Internships can be a wonderful tool to expand your knowledge as an emerging professional—but NEVER take one for free. Know your worth and get paid a proper wage for the time you spend. You are not an unpaid servant to any firm. You may be growing your skills, but if you’ve made it far enough to become an architectural intern, you have valuable enough skills already that you should be compensated for. Remember: You are helping a firm succeed just as much as they are helping you grow.
