Basic always comes to play in all interviews I've attended. For a fact, select * statement have landed me a role before. Like mentioned too, being familiar with common DBs query statement is also good.
Know selects statements but avoid "select *...". Having owned a software company, it can wreak havoc on a release when new fields have been added. It can also select more data than needed and thus consume network resources.
Don’t be afraid to admit what you don’t know. I have got multiple contracts by being open with the client about what I don’t know. Why? My very old copy of Oracle in a Nutshell runs to over a thousand pages and very few people will ever know everything covered by that one book let alone the full manuals, and a good interviewer will understand this and appreciate the honesty.

You should prepare a portfolio or a resume that highlights your relevant projects and achievements, such as designing, developing, testing, deploying, or maintaining databases and applications that use them. You should also be able to describe the goals, challenges, solutions, and outcomes of your projects in detail and with confidence. You should also be prepared to answer questions about your projects, such as the technologies, tools, methods, and best practices that you used or learned.
In my experience we should be able to articulate the latest happenings in the data management and data engineering space like the cloud adoption , LLMs etc. and how we can leverage those offerings in the work we do to make it inline with the current technology and of utmost quality We can give examples of previous projects and what value did it add to the organisation in terms of savings and efficiency
