When I was in my early days of DBA , the thing that helped me the most was to read the actual product documentation on the areas that I was working. One need to clear the basics in early days so that they can easily grasp the more advanced topics. Without the basic knowledge , it’s impossible to grow.

Learn the Fundamentals of database programming! Everything is build on this knowledge , if there is a knowledge gap anywhere, it is usually traced to the fundamentals. This stage is the most important stage. And every other knowledge is built on this.

Get real-world experience In addition to learning, it’s important to get as much real-world experience as you can. Begin by designing, building, and testing small databases related to your interests and hobbies – such as your favourite music, favorite videos, or personal finances.

The first, second and third things to improve on are: SQL, SQL and SQL. Don't worry about the dialects of the various databases out there. If you'll be doing Postgres, Oracle, SQL server, MySQL etc. you will be able to easily adopt your SQL skills. Just choose one relational database of choice to learn.

If you're in your early career stages of database development, take your time; rushing may lead to choosing the wrong database system, becoming a potential bottleneck for system performance in terms of scalability, data availability, and consistency. Lack of knowledge about the core fundamentals makes it challenging to use and objectively compare data systems in the future.

Don't use Excel. Use Power BI and other Power based apps. Too much trouble with text conversions and white space issues with content from many sources.
