Being a life learner if a place. I’m one. I’m trying to obtain some certifications and I’d like to grow my edtech channel in the near future.
Because of my role within the digital learning field, I know the importance of lifelong learning and ongoing professional development. I've seen first-hand how the rapid pace of technology has been a source of frustration, causing students to feel resentful about the continuous need to acquire new skills. Much of my teaching experience today involves helping students overcome the fear and reluctance associated with learning what they perceive as complex, ever-changing subjects. As an educator in the digital learning space, I recognize that my primary responsibility is to help my students, young and old, develop a love for and acceptance of lifelong learning, which has essentially become a new life skill.
The term "lifelong learning" is problematic because it implies that we have to submit to something and thus adapt to the demands of the labour market. Of course we should learn! And of course we should be able to meet the demands of the labour market. But instead of the acquisition of skills becoming learnification, it is more important to develop the exact skills that your field needs and to explore areas that can add something new. In this way, you become an innovative resource instead of a product of labour market demands; a valuable asset to your employer!
Getting recognition from your boss or manager is great, but my recommendation is that you simply focus on doing your job the best way possible by showing how great of a communicator you are, how well you work in your team/ department, learn from them and have a wonderful exchange, and show a passion for continuous learning and improvement!
