I am as data-biased as you get. However, the market doesn’t care about my love for data or internal compromises when an org’s security posture needs to be heightened. There are just some non-negotiables that can’t be compromised from a security standpoint. Collaboration & understanding are ideal, but factors at play outside of individuals coming together may need leadership to set the context on the why so that both don’t approach the discussion as if all things are equal, if they in fact are not. This is not a reflection of people or skills; it’s managing risk, compliance, & ability to get cyber insurance AND actually have it pay out. Sans base security measures, it’s less a compromise effort & more an org mitigating a high risk area.
