An example of this is can be our VC fund umbrella. We try to vary from quarterly reports sent via email, all the way up to investment committee observatory meeting and co-investments where one of our strategic investors might try and help with value creation. I would suggest classiffication of LPs from day one according to their expectations from that specific investment. (ie. strategic vs financial)

Ofcourse all the above need and should be reported to LPs as a part of standard reporting, but I'm a fan of going deeper. Try to depict a story at the fund level, with your reporting. For example, CLT (customer lifetime value) in portcos is good, but if you're growing deeper in a sector, demonstrate that customer acquisition costs are decreasing. If you're landing and expanding within the client, maybe the share of wallet has increased. Demonstrate some creative metrics- do people regularly decline to work with competitors to work with the portcos in the fund? That's a powerful story to tell. NPS is good but go deeper to demonstrate a better story around engagement strategies.
