Great leadership is about ensuring everyone is rowing in the same direction toward a strategic aim. I've seen this best accomplished through the formulation of annual Objectives and Key Results (OKR's), and breaking those down into thematic quarterly OKR's. Your product must center around these objectives. For example, if scaling customer acquisition is a quarterly goal, the product effort should center around conversion optimization and improving the onboarding experience. You should NOT be working on features that do not relate to this focus. It's alarmingly easy to get distracted and to drift away from a goal as customer needs arise. Check in each sprint and ensure the team is focused on what's strategically important.
