What are the best ways to develop leadership skills as an intern?

In my experience, seeking feedback is one of the most important aspects of self-development particularly when you are starting out in your career. By being self-aware you can continuously challenge yourself and continue to discover areas for growth and focus. Whilst it can seem daunting at times, the pay-off is almost always worth it and you learn a huge deal in the process. Be bold and utilise these in-the-moment opportunities to develop yourself professionally.

One thing I found helpful was before submitting a piece of work, seek feedback on it and make the iterations needed. Ask how it can be improved. Use this feedback and learnings for the next piece of work.

One of my mottos in my career has always been to take initiative and put your hat in the ring for any opportunities or initiatives that you are drawn to. The worst that can happen is that you get knocked back at that time but the flow on affect is much greater.
