Be willing to assign not just tasks, but responsibilities. Make the person feel as though they are an integral part of the organization and how vital their presence and input is to the process. Recognize effort and success.

Be hands on lead by example, it gains respect for what your asking , show exactly what you expect and how a task should be carried out,it gives confidence and you become part of their team,its us,not them and us.
