In my experience, you are either chasing a revenue goal, or a programmatic goal. Dollar goals are easy to structure so that team members can devise viable strategies to make "goal." That being said, you can raise the funds you need, and still leave the donors feeling less than satisfied, so good stewardship and getting useful feedback in terms of the donor's satisfaction is key. On the flip side, if your goal is to provide an internal or external service, it's imperative to steward them as well. For example, a service provider might seek out feedback through direct contact (not text surveys), and take to heart what clients feel after their experience; why exactly did the client have a great experience, or conversely what truly went wrong?
