Pizzazz is cool, but it adds friction. Remember that! When it comes to helping folks who aren't tech-savvy vibe with eLearning, you really just need to step away from the flashy interactions. Keep the elements simple (and accessible), and use big text and big buttons. Stay away from drag-and-drop. Lower the amount of clicks or taps it takes to get to where the learner needs to go. And if possible, make it so folks don't need to log in to take the course. It works! I've had tons of success over the years. I've made courses for older investors to put them on the defense against scam calls, and I've helped Lively Medical Alert employees refine their approach to describing their services to that older audience. Always good results!

Think about other systems they use at the company (if any) and make interfaces work as closely to how they “expect” as possible. Offer job aid navigation instructions they can download or open in another tab, as well as an initial video navigation introduction. Make things as easy to search and return to as possible. If the group is very new to eLearning or struggles particularly, offer an intro class synchronously designed to set them up in the system. And keep all training as similar as possible in format, so they never have to rethink navigating it!

Having the audience in mind, you have to write a script that has adequate language and pacing for the audience. Make sure you think about great visuals too. With people over 60+, for example, you might want to do a video with an actor so that there is a feeling of someone there and also accommodate the pacing for complex topics.
