What are the best ways to build a strong team identity?

Establish a well-defined mission for the team, focused on what they will do, the benefits it provides, and how it aligns with the company strategy. Additionally, clearly define how each team supports the mission. Further, set up clear expectations for behavior. Finally, spotlight teams or team members that perform exceptionally. Just my $0.02. It is important to be open to feedback because what worked in the past may not necessarily be relevant in the present time .Flexibility is so important as that can make or break teams because the vision is the same but the approach will constantly change

As always, be open, transparent and most importantly, honest. That develops trust and respect. And, always follow-up and respond if your team is contacted about an issue or project. People don't like being ignored-even if what you have to say isn't always what they want to hear.

The first thing to build a team trust, if there is no trust there is no team. A team needs to be able to trust you and at the same time you have to be able to trust your team; trust is the key to success as there is no I in team. people say that trust is earn and it is true however in order for it to be earned there has to be a moment to delegate to start developing that trust. Learning to know each person in your team will tell you which ones to be able to delegate bigger things than others which is the main reason for learning to trust your team.

As an MBA student, team work is a part & parcel of my life. Interestingly for all 7 core papers we are divided into different teams to work on the team tasks. This in the first place I believe is a very different ice breaker & helps to build bonds with almost all in the classroom. Typically, when we work in teams we always set goals in the order of completion of time. The easiest one may be to schedule the time and agenda of the meet. A sense of accomplishment starts building up motivating all of us together to work. Though initiative is taken by 1-2 in the group the agenda and task flow is calibrated by the rest. Thus there is also a sense of participation. We are still learning, but realising slowly that in a team 1+1 equalls 11.

One example is my weekly wins. I like to celebrate the weekly wins which helps engage with the team members. Allowing others to text what may have happened whether they received a referral or got an incredible email communication from a client, shows that we are moving in the right direction from a fiduciary capacity. Constantly sharing the wins and sometimes the losses brings us all together. It allows us to see what is working a do what we need to be doing better.

Beyond being a celebration of accomplishments, recognizing achievements and diversity is a testament to the richness within the team. Celebrating and recognising each and everyone's contributions even if that of a lowest performer will add much higher values. Humans thirst for recognition & appreciation will never be quenched.

I think one of the most important factors for team building is to share the end goal and how each person is contributing to that success. It is so easy to do, help employees feel like part of the greater good. Not just a cog in the wheel of profits for the C-Suite.

Encourage and facilitate open and honest dialogue, brainstorming, and problem-solving. Seek and offer input, advice, and assistance when needed. Creating a culture of brutal honesty and integrity is where I feel team building excels. If we cannot share each others failures and respect each others opinions, then the team was cease to exist. Open sharing and communication has worked for our team and on the athletic fields of play in my past life.

I agree with delegating task but in-depth understanding of your team member’s individual strength and weaknesses plays an integral role in ensuring that their optimum potential are utilised; furthermore create a mechanism to recognise team members for their hard work to encourage loyalty.

This will help them to feel valued and appreciated, and it will also help them to develop their skills and experience. Offer opportunities for training and development: Provide your team members with opportunities to learn new skills and knowledge. This will help them to stay up-to-date on the latest trends.

I agree to a degree. Identity is to each individual. Our overall identity is to Educate individuals, empower families and to engage business owners via succession. What brings power to a team is each individuals personality and you don’t want to remove that. Buying into the message is pivotal and you don’t have to transform one’s identity to follow in line with a message. Explore individuality because that is what breeds diversity and inclusion.

- Building a team identity - We kickstarted our team building with the definition of our team manifesto. Highlighting each roles, defining our values, writing down every team member's personal goals, how the team celebrate success and finally summarising in a document shared to all for reference. This manifesto is the identity of the team and we often make reference to it when we face difficult situations and believe that our values are being challenged. Each member defines this identity and we are all responsible to shoulder our colleagues to be the best team player. No one is left behind and we are here to help them bridge their shortcomings. Finally, caring helps in strengthening the team bonds, and in fine our identity.
