One of the most helpful things I’ve found with regard to IT testing is to set (and be willing to re-set) the Frame: - as a culture, we are predisposed to see “tests” as something that begin at the end of a cycle, and that we are aiming to avoid mistakes: from earliest memories of school, we’re trained to want to “pass” tests - an IT testing mindset kind of involves the exact opposite: we want to begin defining test criteria at the very beginning of our stories and requirements, and our goal is to find mistakes soonest, not avoid them - I feel like the single biggest thing we can do is to acknowledge this perspective flip early and often, and remind ourselves of it as we plan and implement testing
