What is the best way to prioritize feedback on your mobile UI design?

We do 3 things, first is blind test with a prototype. We give the prototype to a user and ask them to play with it. Then take their feedback. Second we do a heuristic evaluation from the prototype. Third we do a game, each one of the team sits in a circle and tells others to get a job done on the prototype within a certain number of clicks. Its super fun, team bonding and memories. There are two key metrics I use for prioritization: Severity and Importance. Severity is essentially how many people are effected by the problem. Importance is how important it is to solve the problem-essentially, how bad is it. Low severity / high important problems are when it's a really bad/confusing experience (or crashes altogether), but it only affects a small number of people. The reverse, High Severity/low importance are those annoying little bugs that affect everyone, but they are figureoutable (a workaround exists and is easily found). Balancing out these two lenses can help ensure that you prioritize well. Some of this is Art and not just math.

I've learned that not all feedback is created equal. Choosing your sources wisely is key. I always lean towards feedback from actual users and stakeholders closely aligned with the app's target market. For instance, while developing a fitness app, I prioritized input from fitness enthusiasts and trainers over generic user comments. "It's bad" or "It doesn't work" This feedback is useless, but we got tones of these review comments for one of video streaming apps. Reason - Our feedback channel was most accessible channel available to the user. Is it their fault? No Should they be educated so that we don't loose our ratings? Hard yes. Learning - Make giving feedback even more accessible, so the users can go to the right channel and provide relevant feedback. This would help us narrow down the experience and have a quick engagement time.

If the feedback pertains to design aesthetics, such as style guides, fonts, or colors, it aligns with branding and marketing considerations. These aspects should be incorporated into changes overseen by the branding and marketing teams. For functionality-related feedback, developer input ensures a comprehensive understanding of feasibility and a review of the complexity. Collaborating with the development team is key to implementing updates that enhance the app's functionality effectively. If the feedback revolves around usability, it leans towards product-centric considerations. In such cases, the product owner should take the lead in reviewing the feedback and making decisions that prioritize the best interests of the customers.

I divide feedback into categories like usability, aesthetics, and functionality. This method helped us significantly when we were developing a food delivery app. By categorizing feedback, we could quickly identify that users loved the app's look but found the checkout process cumbersome. This insight allowed us to prioritize making the checkout flow as smooth as the app's visuals, greatly improving user satisfaction. This is a key section, to make the correct categorization of your feedback will enable the possibility of prioritizing and creating action points that your team will be able to deliver sooner than later. Aesthetics issues can be annoying, but as a tip, keep an eye on the UX feedback. If your users have problems to execute some key actions in your app, it can ruin the whole experience.

Couldn't be more important. Engage with your users, go deep on their feedback and when you have a solution, share it with them. They will love it !
