What is the best way to describe your SQL experience?

Assessing your SQL baseline is incredibly subjective. I have a DBA certification, and theoretically, I can qualify as someone who is 'advanced' on paper, but in reality, I don't use it day-to-day and forget a lot of it. The best measure of proficiency, I believe, is how effectively you can use SQL to solve real-world problems and scenarios. Participating in online forums, contributing to open-source projects, or taking on small freelance tasks can provide opportunities to apply your skills in diverse situations, thereby giving a more accurate measure of your proficiency.

When I started my journey with SQL, I was like a junior chef learning the basics in the kitchen. Over time, I progressed to a more intermediate level, handling complex queries and optimizing database performance. Quando eu comecei a aprender SQL, foi por uma necessidade de aprender a fazer um CRUD em Java, e dai eu precisa entender banco de dados, e n?o só fazer por fazer, tipo uma máquina que obedece comandos. Foi e ainda é desafiador, pois entendo que ainda tenho muito o que aprender. Mas na época que comecei, eu fiz um curso interativo, assistir aulas no youtube, e até hoje participo de grupos de discuss?o sobre SQL. Eu gosto muito de aprender, e de estudar, principalmente coisas novas e que v?o agregar conhecimento ao meu dia dia.

Utilizo SQL em todos projetos pessoais e no trabalho há mais de 3 anos, mas raramente utilizo triggers (gatilhos). N?o sou extremamente experiente otimizando consultas, mas já realizei o processo algumas vezes.

Trabalho hoje administrando um sistema de big data de bancos de cadastros biográficos e biométricos. é possível utilizar o DBeaver para gerenciar o banco, ou a própria CLI do MySQL. Também temos um banco de dados n?o relacional, acessível pela própria CLI. Já fiz utiliza??o de PostgreeSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Oracle e SQLite. Quanto a números pelo menos 3000 inser??es diárias s?o realizadas, em apenas uma das tabelas. Uma das consultas mais expressivas demorava ~177s para e foi otimizada para ~120s.

I worked at a company where the date column was stored as a string - ouch! Querying a huge amount of records became VERY slow especially over time. I was able to create a new datetime column and more importantly trace all uses of the column in the application and update the application so that the new column was used as well. I also wrote a script to convert existing records to have the proper datetime data. This increased performance immensely and this change was a HUGE hit with the data and reporting team!
