it's also of paramount importance that the Change has to be thought through from all angles before one can plan to communicate. Thus in my opinion , change is like a coconut that has tough covering outside and it appears tough to crack for external viewers and in its core there is fluidity , there is clean white vision that is well thought . The more time an organization mulls over the core values, the more it dilutes... So make sure you are keeping the core intact and allowing a softer and gentle effort around the core to make it understood by any external world .. As a truth, first level viewers are internal employees n second level is the external world. Make sure change is first accepted... For that prepare the right communication !

Aligning the RIGHT leaders at various levels in the organization on a future state vision is absolutely critical to kicking off a transformation. The vision will then set proper guardrails to avoid deviations during the change process. Facilitating the vision mapping and definition is an absolute skill required for a change management professional.

The depth and sincerity with which you listen and support is everything. This isn’t a tick box exercise, a technique or even a behaviour. Not everyone will agree or be comfortable with change. If you really know yourself and turn up authentically then you stand the best chance of really understanding others and being able to freely and honestly help them to interpret what is happening and find their own place in a changing world.

By adopting a systems thinking approach with feedback loops, you’re moving to a more dynamic, interconnected framework for stakeholder engagement. It’s said that “culture eats strategy for breakfast” and if a company does not engage key stakeholders in a meaningful way with transparent communications and change management tools, then change initiatives risk failure.

We should not underestimate the value of a change impact assessment. While it may feel like an academix exercise, it is incredibly comprehensive and helpful when done right. From experience, having the right stakeholders as part of your virtual team when doing the change impact assessment really helps get the buy-in and a deeper understanding of all the implications around processes, policies, tools, people and systems. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, conducting a brainstorm with the right stakeholders and have discipline to close out every single item will make the change impactful and as robust as possible.

Without knowing what is changing, you will undoubtedly leave something out in your change plan. When the user community discovers the change without prior knowledge, this creates a negative mindset and the group begins to wonder what else changed. This unnecessary stress can be easily avoided with doing the assessment thoroughly upfront. “Pay me now, or pay me later.” Due diligence at the start saves time, effort and user frustration at the end.

The vision and overall value proposition for change is key. In addition, it is important to know what is being changed very specifically and how each of the changes relate back to the overall goal. The better of an understanding people have of what is coming, the less they will resist the change. Deciding on what metrics will indicate progress and success of the change ahead of time is crucial to make sure you are staying on track (and it is helpful to celebrate milestones - since big change management projects are typically not "one and done")

I think this is the most critical aspect of change management. Even if you have a perfectly laid out execution plan that aligns with your vision/objective for change, the project can fail miserably. You need a clear ownership of the change process. Changes are generally executed in a longer period, thus other priorities might come in for the company. This is where key stakeholders must be focused on execution and adaption to changes around keeping the main goal intact.

Economic alignment is a crucial but often overlooked factor. Ensuring that the financial incentives are aligned with the desired changes reduces friction. It increases the likelihood of successful, lasting change. This strategy taps into the principles of behavioural economics, where incentives can strongly influence outcomes.

To take people with you they must see their own path in a new future, and it’s a great time to help leadership teams better understand their own mindset, the people and cultures they wish to build, and the work they can do to develop both.

The Action plan should be expanded to cover Stakeholder Communication and Training strategies and plans and team dynamics. The Change Management processes are tools to be considered because there are different process models to be adopted for different change initiatives. The same to Change Management Lifecycle which varies for greenfield or brownfield change approach. I believe, the change management processes and lifecycle should be equally considered as tools and worthy to be added on the itemize list of tools here. Thanks.
