What are the best tools to identify site issues?

Ahrefs offers backlink analysis, while PageSpeed Insights assesses page loading times. Regularly using these tools can ensure a healthy and optimized website.

Google Search Console is the first tool you should use to find out your problems. We often think that any other tool can work better. But first, you have to use GSC and look for problems and solve those problems. There are other paid and free tools but always start with GSC and then move on to other tools.

There are multiple tools as we all know as the internet would throw a plethora of them. Lighthouse helps you audit your website's performance, accessibility, progressive web app capabilities, and more. Sucuri scans your website for malware, blacklisting, and other security threats. It also provides recommendations on how to improve your website's security.

Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a tool that is loaded with problem-detection features and recommendation features. And do not worry about the cost, it has both free and paid. And only big website owners need paid version of this tool.

I like the free version of Screaming Frog, but without paying for it you're missing out on a lot of crawl settings that can be customized, which you definitely will need to customize to make full use of the tool. This tool is not as intuitive as Ahrefs or SEMrush's site audits and is not really suited for new SEOs. You really need to understand SEO to be able to configure the crawler correctly.

Third-party tools with technical audit tools can help identify top-level issues, but even then these tools can be wrong, and oftentimes won't highlight or will struggle to highlight substantial technical issues.

One program that wasn't mentioned here is SEO Power Suite. It's not as common as SEMrush, Ahrefs or Screaming Frog, but there's a free version I think is worth checking out before deciding if the paid version is right for you.
