Production of KPI's and dashboards is a costly activity both in terms of its conception, roll-out and maintenance. When we are faced with resistance to its implementation and use, it just means that the first criteria that should have been observed is not met: KPI's and dashboards should have specifically identified internal customers who should be eagerly waiting for its results in order to measure their performance and the drivers which underlie it. In the case of resistance, that means that the implementation of those tools has advanced without the necessary buy-in of its customers. It happens often and is mostly explained by the temptation to push new technology and functionalities without some serious thought about its fit for purpose.

3 Provide training and support

Even if your stakeholders understand and appreciate the value of KPIs and dashboards, they may still lack the skills and confidence to use them effectively. That's why you need to provide them with adequate training and support.
