It is common for a programmer and test engineer to assume and say, if there is no API specification, it leads to challenge. I have worked in projects that does not have web API documentation and specification. Without knowing what is the challenge, calling out what I see "hard" as a challenge, is a first challenge to solve. The few priority and common challenges I see are: - Engineer not understanding the fundamentals of Web, Web API, Protocols which web API uses - Engineer not knowing how the web API is developed and its limitations - Engineer not knowing how the web API is used and by whom - Engineer not knowing how the consumer responds to the Web APIs responses, Error handling and Error Codes
