In my experience, although Robust planning and scheduling tools like MES scheduling functionality, Online planning and scheduling system having tight integration with ERP and Plant automation system certainly helps streamlining the scheduling process but most important element to have such scheduling issue lies with frequent change of scheduling strategy. That may be to fulfil the customer demand but in a long run those frequent changes doesn’t help as a whole. The strategy should be formularised with listed constraints , bottlenecks and the same to fed to the system to have automated scheduling. Process must be followed through out the touch points.
