One thing I've learnt from the film industry gurus like James Cameron is this: to hook the audience you capture various angles of the scene where the audience feel as though they are with the main character (especially, one in crisis). So at certain instances you can portray what the character is seeing e.g how close the monster is to the character's face, just as the character is seeing it (through the character's eyes). And as you cut through various angles including that, the audience is not only hooked but is also looking for an escape with the character.

Then, a sad event leaves our character sad and broken (the wave goes down). Next, our character promises to make things right again (the wave goes back up). But then he/she is faced with a difficult challenge (the wave goes back down). This does not mean that every scene has to go from happy - sad - happy - sad, but more that it's good to make variations in the emotional levels, so you don't get the same emotional response from several scenes in a row.

Once specific note I have on this: Ending with a cliffhanger, depending on your story and platform (TV series, Movies, Web short) can be tricky. If you leave your audiences with a cliffhanger, it can either make them wanting more, or frustrated at the climax. I would have an audience screening test or have your script read by a few people to get their reaction to the ending, so you get a better feel and feedback on it.
Ending with an emotional or meaningful message can be one of the most impactful and memorable ways to end an animation to really keep your message in the hearts of your audience. Although it is very difficult to get everything to sync into the perfect ending I believe it to be one of the most rewarding and impactful ways to end a labor of love.

Everyone has their own TV show now as Isaac Asimov predicted 30 years ago, but authenticity and humanity are lagging behind our massively increased capabilities, even as people become more insular and less skilled at communicating and empathizing with others. We can retain our human-ness in an increasingly computerized world by addressing each other as individuals. Saying "hey everyone, welcome to my podcast" neglects the fact that 95% of the listeners are alone in a room, and addressing them as "everyone" ignores their individuality. Instead, simply say "hi!" or "welcome!" or "I'm glad to be talking with you today". Be human.
Nothing hits like a strong character development in an animated story. A powerful character arc is so effective in evoking emotions for viewers, especially ones that really resonate with the audience's experiences and feelings. When character's face conflict and experience growth, it gives the audience something to relate to. Think Simba in Lion King for example, one of the most loved animated films of all time and when we think about what makes it so powerful, it will come down to Simba's character arc. He goes from a carefree cub that experiences guilt and self-exile after his father's death and grows and gains wisdom in exile. Ultimately leading to restoration of the pride lands.
Good scripts gives marvellous screen experience. Writing is the vital thing always. And the unexpected characterisations with reasonable character’s arc also more effective.
