What are the best sales management books you have read and why?

From Go-getter to Go-giver, leads to ultimate sales success in a long time. The book 'The Go-Giver' by Bob Burg & John David Mann is the guide which wonderfully illuminates the principles of contribution, abundance, service and success. Touches upon our core humanity and people connect.

My own journey in sales and marketing is etched in my mind and that is what I read whenever I want to.There are many text books which will teach you to sell ,but every salesman has a unique and different way of selling,which he or she would have developed over a time.Also can pick up some good points from other sales people who you encounter everyday.

As the article states, there are many terrific books for those in sales management positions. I've always believed in continually reading new books on the top. For a small investment, just a few good ideas will pay you back with many dividends. However, be sure to also read books about emotional intelligence, organization skills, working globally and diversity equity & inclusion. Always be learning and always be reading.

I have three: * the accidental sales manager * from good to great * give and take The first two are fairly self-explanatory. Give and take lays out that there are two distinctly different types of people in business. Those that give an order to lift others up, and those that take for their own benefit. It helps you identify who you are, and how to interact with the other.

Right Kind of Wrong by Amy Edmonson is a great book about what kinds of failures teach us things, and how to do more of those, while minimizing the sort of failure that comes through lack of attention. I also got a lot from Turn the Ship Around by David Marquet. It's about what the metrics of engagement are for teams (such as bringing friends and family to see the work place and displaying swag) and how to encourage ownership and respect for the work at hand.

In my experience this book has been fundamental to how I think of sales leadership and marketing in the context of team management. The most important extracts for me is the use of sales data to develop clear coaching and training plans for people. And for all sales training to be centralised around the buyer experience and our sales process. The book also breakdown nicely how to look for and hire the right people for your organisation, how to measure and reward their performance and lead without micromanaging. The underlying principal for me is that Sales Leaders should run their teams like the coach of a football club. Guiding, training, supporting, coaching but empowering sales members to realise their own success.

The book by Mark Roberge on building a sales machine whilst optimizing your sales process .i also recommend habits of highly effective people by stephen covey on how to prioritize your time its an all rounder which can be used in sales

Elizabeth I, CEO: Strategic Lessons From The Leader Who Built An Empire by Alan Axelrod. Not many people have an "Age" named after them and that is in and of itself a testament to her ability to take a country in shambles and raising it up to a Golden Age. She overcame obstacles such as the stigma in regards to the questions about her legitimacy, which must have been daunting for a young woman of 25 given the political climate of the day. She understood that "it takes a village" and surrounded herself with expert advisors yet was not afraid to make the final decision on her own. I think what endears her besides loyalty to her people was to bring alive the arts such as literature and music which can touch people and illuminate the world

The Challenger Sale is great and but I personally think the Challenger Customer is an even better read. This book builds on the foundation of the Challenger Sale but then focuses on how to move customers into action. It also highlights the fact that it is very rare to buy from an individual rather than from a group- which takes a whole different approach.

The Challenge Sale is useful when dealing with small businesses and solopreneurs who don't have fragile egos. I've had success having read this book and that's why I recommend it. When you get to large corporates and start challenging board directors and CEOs, you will often find this doesn't work as effectively.

These are all brilliant books. I'd also add you can become a better sales manager by reading parenting books because they teach you about engagement, communication, reactance theory, safety and levelling. "The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read" is a good one as is "How To Talk So You Kids Listen & Listen So Your Kids Talk." I am currently reading Adam's Grant's book Hidden Potential that is v good on the subject of coaching others. Anything by Andy Grove (Intel Inside) I'd highly recommend reading too.

One outstanding sales management book I have read is Daniel Pink's book 'To sell is human' The book introduces the New ABC ( Always Be closing ) of sales as Atttunement, Bouyancy and Clarity. 1. Attunement is simply wearing the customer's hat. Consider things from the buyer's point of view. 2.Buoyancy is the ability to sail "in whirlwinds of rejection." As a seller, you'll hear "no" more often than "yes." You must first prepare yourself to deal with rejection—in other words, become more buoyant. 3.Clarity is simply the ability to see a situation through a new lens and help people uncover problems they were unaware they had. The book also paints an important picture of not using deceit to convince a customer to buy.

Highly recommend The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership book by John Maxwell! I would also add, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey
