I can't stress this enough, and it's underpinned by some of the points highlighted, "Do it right first time!". Unlike other solutions like web/mobile applications, you can re-engineer, refactor, redesign most if not all aspects of your user-facing components. Once you build a reusable API or service and you start clocking numbers in terms of consumers of said service, refactoring stuff like a poorly conceived namespace or schema is just hard work (e.g. regression testing, etc.). You could create a new version and it makes sense to, but you'd reserve that admin overhead to cater for the normal evolution of changing integration functionality, and not to paper over cracks from short-sighted and poor design decisions on the team's part.
