1 Choose the right approach

I would recommend based on the business needs and project size to determine which type we choose either code first or db first. If we consider flexible and easy make changes or manipulation in database operations for doing that I would recommend database first approach.

Ich habe aber auch schon festgestellt, dass manchmal das generierte SQL nicht optimal ist und langsam l?uft. Tipp: Wenns zu langsam wird, trotzdem SQL k?nnen, schauen was generiert wird und nicht blind dem Framework vertrauen.

Modelling is like painting a room. Where do you spend more time? Answer: “Prepping”. Exactly like painting you spend more time in mock or conceptual modelling, mocking the data and if you got the real world data consider yourself very lucky, then testing or evaluating the mock model against the mock or real world data. Using UML, DBML, AML, mermaid visualising your mock model. SME review should happen at this stage. If you spend more time in preparing well, you spend less time in change management later on. After this, both the tracks(APP & DB Dev) can run in parallel. There are tools that converts your DBML or AML to DB build(DDLs) so don’t spend too much time worrying about the tool, and get the things conceptually right.

2 Use lazy loading wisely

I have a controversial point of view: Procedures obfuscate somewhat the data in the database. Having stored procedures could lead to business logic embedded in the data, this is always a bad idea. Data should live in the database in its purest form, business logic must be reserved for the application side of things. One common use case is performing database migrations. Existing database migration tools are, for the most part, not able to migrate PL/SQL code.

This is yet again another silly question. EF and database design are orthogonal. Your database design is how you layout and model your data at the persistence level. EF is above that. Can you take your EF into consideration? Maybe, but then you have to ask yourself is that really a good thing? (I could tell you the answer, but then you'd never learn anything.) If you don't understand what I am saying and why I am saying this... You're no better than a ChatGPT hallucination.
