- It is a good practice to use a rotation of backups (Sunday backup, Monday backup, etc) to prevent only having backups of a system in it's infected state. The farther back the backups can go, the more chance of having a pre-infection backup copy to rebuild from.

Only use platforms that provide a management console (most do now), so all updates and activity are reporting into a single pane of glass for review, alerting, and remediation. An ideal location for this console is cloud based, but on-prem is also an option. Take a review of the various vendors, backgrounds and what they potentially offer beyond AV that you can leverage. Some alternatives like Sentinel One for example offer a complete AV solution, but also go far beyond that and offer a complete EDR solution, as well as a back end SOC if that's something your company is interested in outsourcing if the expertise isn't present in-house.
