What are the best practices for staying up-to-date on client services?

As a customer service representative in the Maritime industry from my experience what helps me stay up-to-date with client services is seeking feedback from a customer during an NP Survey and also following operations updates via email or memorandum.

As a former customer service agent in the health insurance industry during the uncertainty of ACA, keeping up with the national conversation of "healthcare for all" as well as the internal notifications of any new changes to the different health plans was vital to being informed, for myself and for the customers. Different companies and industries do it differently but short and sweet updates via email go a long way in keeping employees and clients informed on what is going on.

Always keep an open mind and a willingness to learn. Stay actively engaged in a system of self-improvement, constantly updating and upgrading skills, so we can continually offer enhanced and up-to-date services to our customers.

Staying in the know is priceless, however when it comesto customer service i believe by gathering and providing both the positive and negative feedback can be priceless to a business. I feel any feedback good and bad is a learning lesson and suggestion for improvement. People are more apt to send negative feedback to voice complaints and disservice which is sometimes disheartening, however I see these as moments to learn and improve (even if the issue is out of my control). We need to remember that positive feedback is just as valuable to a business success.
