Always take into consideration of what current inventory you do have, and use what you can or upgrade the device's hardware resources(i.e. memory, storage)if it can meet the demands of the organization. Map out the organization's trajectory/goals by evaluating each departments requirements and always take budget into consideration when making purchasing decisions. Always keep up with the latest technology/generation of hardware that provides the latest in security advancements(i.e. Trusted Platform Module, biometric readers, FIDO keys). As always if possible always purchase one device to test comprehensively before putting deploying to production.

Always establish a good relationship with your vendor's point of contact, they will assist you as much as possible with providing you the current and up to date technologies. Always document warranty and rma procedures for each product/vendor and ensure that contracts reflect what the organization currently needs as well as forecasting the organization's future needs.
