What are the best practices for identifying and analyzing the impact of a problem on stakeholders?

Something I find helpful when defining the problem—or optimizing a potential opportunity—is looking at what is lacking based on market research, word of mouth, or first hand experience. If there seems to be a consensus amongst the target market, and if the issue seems to affect a broader audience, the problem(s) has/have been defined.

In my experience, integrating diverse perspectives early in the problem-solving process can unearth hidden challenges and innovative solutions, enhancing the overall effectiveness and inclusivity of the outcome.

One must never under-report how bad a particular situation is. Panic control is important but all stakeholders should know exactly what the problem is so that more creative alternatives could also flow in.

Try talking to the stakeholders BEFORE you spend time identifying or analyzing the problem - it might turn out the stakeholders doesn't see it as a problem, or experience it in a completely different way than you do. Annoying as it is, sometimes those damn stakeholders have their own opinions about things!

Time to channel your inner talk show host and communicate with stakeholders. Share the juicy details about the problem, but keep it professional – no tabloid sensationalism here. Listen to their feedback like you're collecting golden nuggets of wisdom. Get them involved, but manage expectations – this isn't an episode of Oprah where everyone gets a car.

Communication with the stakeholders needs to be very clear and direct on each aspect of the company's evolution, plus future development plans. So I communicate with my stakeholders four times per year by discussing directly 1 to 1 meetings online where I present our business evolution until that moment, plus plans and the problems that we have until that moment—showing very clearly all the budgets that we used in each step until that moment plus what budget we have on positive balance to use or negative balance to request a new budget investment. And the big meeting with them is scheduled to be at three years each time where are discussed the latest members to be named and all the administrative subjects etc.

Risky moves need to be calculated first hand and presented at the top of the list instead of the bottom. If your investor believes in you even after you show bad data. They will not only invest in the first round but definitely get their friends to also invest in later rounds.

Dealing with problems is a continuous process. As old ones seem to be resolved, new ones crop up. Us leaders should always be prepared to deal with whatever hurdle comes in our way!

One of the most helpful practice is stakeholders review or feedback. With their reviews one can know about their problems once this is achieved analyzing it comes next, from careful analysis one can identify the impact of any problem faced by stakeholders.

Implement the change: Finally, your team is ready to make the proposed change. Monitor the performance of the change and prepare to intervene if problems arise by anticipating stakeholder concerns and engaging proactively to build trust. Collaborate across departments to gain diverse perspectives on the implementation. Also, think long-term, and bake into the implementation and new strategy long-term sustainability goals with key stakeholder inputs from engineering, product, marketing, and supply chain teams even your VP.
