Start with four non-negotiable principles in mind. 1. The crafting and delivery of the messaging should not create any unexpected surprises for either party. 2. Less is more. 3. If additional responses are required beyond agreed FAQs, these responses will be agreed between both parties prior to release. 4. Pre-mortem the announcement. If someone was to read the announcement in two years time, would it shed a positive, neutral or negative light on the reputation of either party? In my experience, this can help successfully navigate an often tense situation.
