With respect to technology related vendors, the type of training provided has to be determined by what you are engaging the vendor to provide. Vendors' staff should be knowledgeable about compliance requirements as well as the technical and soft skills. Inserting your company in these areas may open co-employment issues as well as with contractual terms. Sharing information about your company is important however what training your company provides vs what the vendor is meant to provide (both initially and ongoing) has to be considered and agreed to upfront and then carefully adhered to by both parties to minimize risk on both sides.

Determining what training to offer as well as frequency of when training is to be offered has to happen upfront. Another point to consider is what happens if a vendor employee doesn't take the training or fails it. Who pays for the time to take the training and if there needs to be a staff member replaced who pays for that time? How many of hours of training is your company paying for vs the vendor paying their employees to take training.
