Whatever we think of it currently, Chatgpt is here to stay. I am learning how to use it as just another tool to help my students write. I am still encouraging them to find their own voice and originality, but one way AI can help is in editing- if their piece is too long, AI can help them condense it. If they need to work on uplevelling vocabulary, AI can help. It can help with alternative usage of punctuation and also reorder details for effect. None of this is taking away from the need to have a human writing an original composition, but it aids the human in being curious and playful with their writing.
