As they say, Change is inevitable and so does the Risk associated with uncertainty that go hand in hand with change. There are 3 critical aspects or foundation you must define at the outset. The risk tolerance, the risk threshold and the risk awareness. While the first 2 is relatively an easier one, but "risk awareness" posses with challenges which is inherent of the "unknowns". While there are proven artifacts like risk register, risk report, SWOT, RACI to combat the unknowns, but there is a tremendous opportunity with Generative AI. To predict, analyze, extrapolate and come to better decisions to combat the change and its nuances. Use the power of human like intelligence of GenAI to better predict and better prepare for better management.

Here is an example of how one can build a stakeholder map: Create a quadrant with: X-Axis: "Level of Support" - most left = zero support and most right = full support Y-Axis: "Level of Influence" - bottom = no influence and top = very high influence Identify all relevant stakeholders and place them in this quadrant. Another great 'tool' is: Talk to each other! While leading a big change program, I established a bi-weekly call with 30 project/change managers. The call lasted 60min, and everybody had 2min time to report on three things: - What went well? - Where are our actual challenges? - Do I need a decision? This kind of reporting call is an excellent tool for identifying issues and risks early. This 2-minute reporting slot taught them to be precise and concise. With this format, not only the Change leader but also everybody else in this call is well informed. That was important since the 30 different projects in this huge change program depended on each other. This reporting element was in addition to formal program and project management.
