Make sure you assess what is feasible for your institution before moving forward with a decision. Federated access is great for academic institutions, but proxy (password) authentication may be better for smaller libraries. Each method has a cost, whether a time (set-up and maintenance) or monetary (set-up, no maintenance).

N?o existe um melhor método de autentica??o para todos os casos, mas SEMPRE é recomendado utilizar ao menos dois (2FA). Também é recomendado que o método de autentica??o adotado n?o cause muito transtorno ao usuário final, pois ele pode abandonar o uso do sistema (num e-commerce, por exemplo), ou pode se utilizar de subterfúgios que podem enfraquecer a autentica??o, como anota??o de senhas ou compartilhamento de tokens, cart?es e até certificados digitais.

Access control can be useful for keeping costs/use down to a manageable amount. It can also be a great way to show what resources are being used by certain groups of people. Knowing if a high-priced subject database is being used by a large proportion of graduate students or if it's only used occasionally by a few faculty members can help privide insight into resource use and where you might want to trim or expand subject access.

Do not work in a silo! Loop in your IT team and find out what best practices are already in place. Is the authentication method you want to implement going to work with existing systems or will it be a huge headache? Plan out an implementation process and make sure you connect with everyone who may play a role before getting started.
