It is a valuable asset for organizations striving to enhance processes, minimize cycle times, mitigate waste, and ultimately expand and create value.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) helps remote teams align on common goals and understand customer needs better. It reveals the current state of the value stream, facilitates improvement design, and enhances collaboration and communication among team members. By involving all stakeholders, VSM fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Remote teams may face difficulties with VSM due to limited face-to-face interaction, which can impact the effectiveness of visual tools. Coordinating across time zones and ensuring all team members are engaged can also be challenging. In My experience VSM is a good way to make sure that teams are following standard process and are not applying their own quick wins without knowledge of process owners. A well collaborated VSM with the inputs received from all the stakeholders becomes the benchmark of process across the team. I recommend following steps to create an effective VSM in remote enviorment: 1. Call for first introduction meeting within the team and find one area where VSM can be applied. 2. One of the process owner starts building basic blocks on VSM and then collaborate with the team to apply time factor on each block. 3. Ask for any difference in standard vs practical process by team members and identify best practices 4. Apply those best practices across team

I agree to the perspective that engaging the team members in value stream mapping is toughest task. You never know which of the team member is taking the value stream mapping activity serious or which is not? A round robin method asking each of the team members for the inputs one by one is the best way to ensure that everybody is engaged and is giving inputs.
