2 How do Kalman filters work?

4 What are the challenges of using Kalman filters?

5 How to use Kalman filters in practice?

The type and number of sensors, the environment features, the robot motion and constraints, as well as the desired accuracy and reliability all need to be taken into account. Depending on these factors, different variants like EKF, UKF, particle filters, grid-based filters, or hybrid filters can be used. Interesting way of using Kalman filters for Robot localization generally for Humanoids mentioned here. Still uncertainty of initial state can be a challenge here to make this work with algorithms for accuracy & consistent estimation of robot motion.
