Whether we like it or not, the gamification of meetings is inevitable. What makes me so confident that it will happen is the way that gamification has already been rapidly moving into many areas of our lives. We obsessively check how many views our social media content generates. We compare how many connections we have. We compete for the digital attention of others –?including strangers. We always want more followers. The gamification of social media is designed to encourage behaviors that are aligned with the goals of an organization. Organizations will bring that gamification to meetings to better align meeting behavior with the needs of the organizations. I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. But we need to be prepared.
