In Africa, Regional Economic Communities such as EAC, COMESA, ECOWAS, SADC, AMU, IGAD, CEN-SAD, ECCAS have facilitated regional economic trading in the past. The new AfCFTA brings together these 8 RECs and 55 African Union (AU) member states and will attempt to achieve intra-Africa trade. It's going to play a key role in Africa building its economic resilience and inter-reliability. It however has a long way to go before it's fully operational. In the meanwhile, let's make full use of the 8 RECs.
