Totally agree with other contributors that setting the right relationship expectations and goals is paramount. I'd add that being a bit more open and humble is s great trait for BOTH parties. Also, ensuring a clear and agreed method to track progress is also essential--especially if the success 'criteria' was crafted by both parties, AND the peers and mentors are allowed and encouraged to increase the challenge, or stretch the goals.

Given GPT's and Agentic AI "coaching agents", soon you and I humans may have the ability to receive neutral (and hopefully accurate) guidance--though I suspect more at the task level, versus more complex behavioral and competence change.
