It is important especially for the team lead / manager to keep the team environment healthy and open. If people start losing trust and accountability, it can leas to fissures. Slowly it can lead to efforts getting crossed and unproductive.

Once at work we were hiring an important role for our team. We interviewed a guy and he was qualified, but he didn't exactly jive with our high energy team. The team voted to NOT hire him. However, our boss said, "I think we should hire him. We can't expect everyone to be exactly the same personality as us." It was eye opening. He wasn't a terrible person. Just super quiet and chill. He ended up being one of the best hires I have ever worked with in my career. I think about that every time I hire now. A team needs a diverse mix of people. In my experience, every team has vocal people, and silent people. Vocal and aggressive people tend to share their thoughts more openly and are able to get their ideas adopted. Silent or introvert members get sidelined (unintentionally), even if they might have better ideas or thoughts. It is important for a high-performing team to give chance to everyone. Especially the ones who generally remain silent. I have seen some of the most impactful suggestions coming from these people.

Having a sense of belonging and having an environment that fosters a good culture of being humane enables self actualization that in return brings the best parts of each and every member of the team.
