If you are interested in multi criteria optimization, I have two suggestions for you: - International Conferences on Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDM) - EURO working group bi-annual meetings on Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding (MCDA) Especially the second one, offers a great opportunity for interaction and feedback. The key researchers/practitioners open to exchanges new ideas are attending these meetings. Keep in mind that these people are also acting as the editors/reviewers of the well-known journals in this domain.

The Design Automation Conference has a lot of interesting papers on algorithms for VLSI CAD. The same is true for ICCAD and DATE.
