Encourage open and honest communication by asking all team members to engage in critical topics. Establish a regular plan for inclusive team meetings that value everyone's contributions. Actively solicit their ideas and suggestions while appreciating their contributions. Use collaborative tools to enable real-time communication and idea exchange. Recognise and celebrate individual and group accomplishments to promote morale. Create possibilities for professional growth and development. By creating an inclusive workplace and appreciating each member's input, you may boost motivation and create a more unified, engaged team.

In situations where team members feel disconnected from decision-making, I reinforce their sense of purpose by enhancing communication and involvement. I start by ensuring transparency—summarizing discussions and decisions in a way that’s accessible to all. I also invite team members to join relevant discussions or working groups based on their expertise, so they’re actively engaged in shaping outcomes. By openly recognizing the impact of their insights, I create an environment where they feel valued, fostering a motivated and inclusive team dynamic.

It is crucial to have a good moderation of discussions. Ideally conducted by someone who is not involved in the discussion. Otherwise, it can happen that team members feel excluded. Reasons for that may be that they are not included at all in the discussion or not being addressed or listened to during the discussion.
-
If team members are feeling excluded from key discussions, I start by addressing the root of the issue—ensuring transparency and inclusivity in our communication. I create an open channel for team feedback and hold regular meetings to share updates on decisions that affect everyone. Additionally, I encourage cross-functional discussions where each team member’s input is valued and welcomed. When everyone feels informed and involved, motivation naturally increases as they recognize their role in the team’s bigger picture.
-
To boost motivation when team members feel left out, I prioritize inclusive practices that empower everyone to contribute. I schedule regular team syncs where we review ongoing projects, encourage questions, and invite feedback from each member. I also make it a habit to summarize key decisions in accessible formats, so even those who weren’t directly involved can understand the context. By actively seeking and valuing their input on future strategies, they’re reminded of their importance to the team and feel more motivated to contribute meaningfully.
