Tech can be a game-changer in education, but if not used thoughtfully, it can feel like just another burden for teachers. One thing that really helps is involving teachers in the selection process, when they have a say in what tools they use, adoption becomes much smoother. Also, giving them ongoing support, not just one-time training, makes a huge difference. It’s all about making technology work for them, not adding more to their plate.

Teachers need time and space to reflect on whether their tech tools still meet their needs and those of their students. Sometimes the best move isn’t adding more— it’s replacing what’s not working or even removing something from their workload.

Not all tech is good for all students or even every class. As an educator, it’s important you identify areas where students may have difficulties and then explore and evaluate which and what technology may enhance your teaching pedagogy. This is especially important in the age of AI. Rather than showing away from it, look at ways, it can help students develop their critical thinking and system in evaluating their language proficiency.

I understand that integrating technology into the classroom can overwhelm teachers, so I make it a priority to manage their workloads thoughtfully. I start by identifying tech tools that simplify their tasks, such as tools that automate grading, scheduling, and content management. I also provide professional development that focuses on practical, hands-on training, so teachers feel more confident using technology. Peer collaboration is key, so I encourage teachers to share resources and tips with each other. I also ensure there’s ongoing support through tech helpdesks or designated time to troubleshoot, so teachers can focus on teaching without the added stress of tech issues.
