Know the laws and statutes in your region. Each platform that collects student student information is required to have TSL/SSL certificates. Ask about them BEFORE platform use. Educate others who work with students in the digital space about the potential risks of data leaks and require proper protocols to be followed. FULL STOP ?? no wiggle room on this one. I would add “continuous monitoring” to this as well. Our in house policies and procedures do not always accurately reflect correct audit frequency or levels. Continuously monitoring will allow to stay agile and current with modern day threats.
