Lesson planning and grading are the two critical tasks that every teacher must engage in. To manage workload and seek a balance between these two tasks, you need to: 1) Plan your lessons carefully. You may include built-in assessments to monitor student progress. 2) Use technologies to speed up the grading process. With the help of e-learning technology, quiz and test are computerized, making it easier for grading. 3) You can set time limits on each task. This can help you remain focused and efficient.

I employ Mastery Learning principles to design lessons with clear objectives and aligned assessments, ensuring that grading directly measures student progress. I leverage AI-powered grading assistants like Gradescope to automate feedback and identify areas for targeted instruction. I utilize Pomodoro Technique to allocate focused time blocks for planning and grading, optimizing productivity and preventing burnout. Finally, I integrate gamification elements through platforms like ClassDojo to incentivize student engagement and streamline classroom management, freeing up time for meaningful feedback and lesson refinement.

Assessment is an integral part of lesson plans and a valuable indicator of learners' attainment.?Lesson plans make teaching impactful - Assessment reflects effectiveness of teaching These are two powerful tools in a teacher's repertoire and are to be balanced. As a teacher, incorporate grading strategies in the lesson plan. Use time management skills to balance the two. Use rubrics to evaluate performance during and after the lesson. Share these rubrics with your students. Wisely select digital tools and apps aligning with your objectives to reduce workload and maintain quality education.

Balancing lesson planning and grading is difficult, but some ways that I’ve overcome this challenge is to use technology and focus on what I must do day by day using “to-do” lists that I can check off as I complete tasks. There are many remarkable grading technologies nowadays. In math specifically, online homework assignments can decrease instructor workload and provide students immediate feedback. Turnitin’s Gradescope is another great tool for partial credit grading. It allows for easy rubric creation and editing, class statistics, and really cool features like linking comments to specific rubric items to increase grading consistency.
