IT has clear goals that they need to meet in order for the solution to be successful and recognized by the business.

Too many IT projects are shoved onto the business. Senior management has agreed to implement some new software whether they chose the brand specifically or a category of software. Then the IT project team tells the business how they need to change their processes to work with the off the shelf software. When you have all the team (HR, Legal, Procurement, Finance, Ops, IT) participate in the project planning from the beginning, you will be more successful. Ops will buy into the project more if they are not pushing back on how you will change their jobs. Communication is the answer to everything. Talk!!!! Do a little customization or at least some setting changes.
