I worked for two major gaming operators for over 20 plus years, you need to be a sponge, soak up as much as you can, learn all departments, learn how to analyze data you are dealing with, look for ways to improve spend/income or reduce costs. Learn to do what managers do.

Once you are able to identify a mentor, you need to understand that you are the one coming to them with the request & that they have important things already going on in their day-to-day. You need to make sure that you are working off of THEIR availability vs. your own.
