Pay careful attention on your hard costs and soft costs. Always remember you cannot change the hard costs much unless you negotiate wisely but you can always cut and save out from your soft costs.

You have to perform a very high level of empathy while selecting venue for your event. Think about who are your guests , their gender, age, professional level. What kind of place will be the best experience for them. Go for an extra mile and negotiate with the venues for suppose offers, this will impress your guests.

I agree but would also like to say please "sweat the small stuff" . Don't neglect vendor meetings, having them at the venue at least twice and then virtually to make sure you are on track helps. Ensure you have a floor plan that in constantly updated with changes as needed and ensure the vendors have it too. I find that the mind cant be trusted totally, everything you discuss with vendors should be recorded and then and email sent, with acknowledgments received. I agree with all the above, but I want to add one more thing In any place where you want to hold the ceremony, be sure to read the comments of others about that place, for example, if the conference hall is a hotel, read the comments of users on different sites.
