As a physician, and a practice owner, I do not “dismiss” a staff member’s suggestions. I use all of the available knowledge and experience of the team, and myself, to come to a decision. That decision may not be to go in the direction the staff member suggested, this time. But my staff always knows they can bring ideas. The only time ideas are “dismissed” is when they are brought with a negative spirit. When a new directive is laid out, we need to discuss the challenges that might interfere with implementation. Comments like, “It can’t be done,” or, “There’s no way that will work,” are dismissed because they are counterproductive and counter to the culture we try to establish.

Never good idea to dismiss that ! That just brings out the worst in people plus you don’t likely understand what is going on and ignoring things does not make them disappear . Dismiss now and pay for that later . Never works .
