As per published scientific research, kids who spend more than a couple of hours on screen are known to exhibit higher levels of depression, anxiety, social anxiety, aggression, defiance and bullying. They are prone to suffer from mental health issues later in their life. Hence the concern of parents are valid and actually a global issue of pandemic scale. The need is to create a balance. Kids who are already suffering can opt for a technology de-addiction pathway (example: online courses available from websites like Psychology World). Focus should be to reduce screen time to minimum, without impacting learning objectives & goals. More physical activities like sports should be encouraged for all kids. Similar discipline required at home.
